Premier League Scores and Highlights

Premier League Scores: Result and Highlights from the EPL Fixture between Swansea City v Chelsea on Saturday, November 03, 2012.

Result: Swansea City 1 – 1 Chelsea

Location: Liberty Stadium – Swansea City

Swansea City – 1 Chelsea – 1
Pablo Hernandez (88’) Victor Moses (61’)

Swansea started out the match playing very well. They did a great job of controlling the ball and keeping possession while also going on the attack. Their problem was in being able to create chances.

Chelsea was able to keep their fair share of the ball and did a better job with it. Chelsea was creating chances through Oscar, Juan Mata, and Eden Hazard (as usual), but not a whole lot came out of it.

Chelsea finally made their breakthrough in the 61st minute from a corner. The ball was initially headed towards goal by Gary Cahill and then in off of Victor Moses who didn’t really know a whole lot about it.

Swansea did do well in the center of midfield but their attack really broke down in the final third. This was their same problem against Manchester City last weekend. The never seemed to be able to get that final ball in.

I was prepared to write off Swansea in this one and concede the match to Chelsea at 0 – 1. However, Pablo Hernandez had other ideas as his beautifully struck shot just at the top of the box beat 2 defenders and Petr Cech to pull the Swans level in the 88th minute.

I had predicted a draw in this match, and Chelsea seemed to be playing as if they expected a draw as well. If they want to win the title this season, these are the kind of matches they will need to win. Swansea played well for most of the match, but, as I said before, really struggled in the final third. If they were able to put more together at Chelsea’s end, it could’ve been a much different match.

Chelsea will be bitterly disappointed that they let this one slip away. In doing so, they allowed Manchester United to take over first place in the Premier League.
