Earlier on Thursday last week, there were reports that Chelsea star Michy Batshuayi had suffered an injury blow whilst on national duty with Belgium.
If that is correct and Batshuayi is out, it means Chelsea will only have one fit striker for the match against West Brom after the international break. The forward is now a doubt for Belgium’s friendly matches against Mexico and Japan and has been allowed to return back to Stamford Bridge for proper assessment of the injury.
There could be problems for the Blues in midfield and defence too. The Sun reports that Tiemoue Bakayoko has broken down in training early on Friday. Chelsea’s midfielder has struggled with one injury this season, so the latest set back will be a massive blow for Antonio Conte especially as the Blues are beginning to pick up form with Bakayoko being integral to that.
David Luiz is the other player reportedly giving Antonio Conte cause for concern. According to a report in The Mirror, the Brazilian has suffered a knock to his knee in training.
Although we will have to wait for further reports on the injured players, it appears that Chelsea may have to field a weakened side against West Brom following the international break particularly as the manager will have an eye on the Champions League clash away to Qarabag FK.
