According to various reports, Chelsea are sweating on the fitness of David Luiz, Tiémoué Bakayoko and Michy Batshuayi.
It is looking more and more likely that the trio will be unavailable when Chelsea return to the Premier League this weekend.
This is coming the day after N’Golo Kante – who has been Chelsea’s best player for the last two seasons – returned from injury. The Blues have suffered with injuries this season and as a result, have had a number of players missing with muscular problems including Alvaro Morata.
Eden Hazard has also been unavailable at times and news that the Belgian had sustained a knock whilst on international duty would have concerned supporters of the Blues.
The midfielder was forced to miss Belgium’s training after they drew 3-3 against Mexico and it was initially feared that he could be missing several weeks of action. Hazard was on the field for 85 minutes against Mexico and scored the opening goal before being substituted.
However, Belgium’s national team manager, Roberto Martinez, has confirmed the former Lille player’s physical state isn’t as bad as had been initially thought. Although Hazard is now likely to miss Belgium’s friendly against Japan later tonight, Martinez has assured Chelsea fans that the injury is not a serious one. “Hazard did not train on Sunday but there is nothing serious.” the former Everton manager was quoted as saying.
This will be good news for the Champions but Conte will be hoping that Roberto Martinez does not risk the midfielder against Japan.
Chelsea cannot afford to lose the Belgian with key matches coming up in the Premier League and Champions League, they need their best players fit.
