Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho already knows how impatient Manchester United fans can be. After losing to Chelsea in their last Premier League outing, Mourinho and his men will know they can’t afford to drop further points when the league returns this weekend following the international break.
The Red Devils will welcome Newcastle United to Old Trafford on Saturday but Mourinho could be without as many as five key first-team players for the clash.
Earlier yesterday, it was reported that Paul Pogba was set to make a return to Manchester United’s line up for the match against the Geordies but The Telegraph reckons initial reports were way off the mark and the midfielder is likely to sit it out.
Although the Frenchman hasn’t suffered a setback, he is not yet deemed match fit to play which will without a doubt be a big blow for the Red Devils who could do with the former Juventus star’s return for the Newcastle United clash.
Aside from Pogba, Phil Jones picked up an injury whilst away with England and could be unavailable. Another name off the team list is the Argentine, Marcos Rojo. The defender is yet to feature for the Reds this season due to a cruciate ligament injury but is nearing a return.
Also edging closer to action is Michael Carrick, who has been out with a calf injury for a while now.
Zlatan Ibraimovic is another player reportedly nearing a return to action. The former Sweden international is yet to play this season but his return will certainly give Mourinho an alternative option in attack. It will be interesting to see who United’s boss plays as the top striker – will it be Romelu Lukaku or big Zlatan?
