By now it must be obvious to even the most optimistic Arsenal fan that Alexis Sanchez is on his way out of the club either this winter or during the summer transfer window, on a free transfer. It is a shame as the Chilean has been Arsenal’s best player during his time at the club, but the North London club have once again shot themselves in the foot. Sanchez is a very ambitious player and unfortunately nothing at Arsenal points to the club being ambitious right now.
They had a chance to make a massive statement of intent in the transfer window last summer but they blew the chance and as such they are more or less out of the running for the Premier League title race yet again. Sanchez could maybe have signed an extension on his contract had Wenger gone out to do the right business, but he failed to do so YET again.
And who can blame Sanchez? All Arsenal fans can hope for is that Arsene Wenger FINALLY goes out and PROPERLY replaces the Chilean. And there are many opportunities this winter and in the summer for Wenger to properly replace Sanchez. One such opportunity is Gabon international and Borussia Dortmund star Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang. Since signing for Dortmund few years ago Aubameyang has scored 135 goals for the German club.
He has gone to become one of the best out-and-out strikers in the world and judging by the woeful performance of Dortmund in recent weeks and the fact that Aubameyang himself hasn’t hidden his desire to leave the club, Arsenal have a good chance to bring him to the Premier League. Dortmund only yesterday confirmed they have left the former AC Milan youngster out of the squad for this weekend’s clash against Stuttgart, which is an indication that things are not rosy between the player and club. This is the second time this has happened over the last year. The first time was in November 2016.
It looks as though Aubameyang is more or less available. And he would be the perfect replacement for Alexis Sanchez at Arsenal, but the problem could be Wenger. The Frenchman has often claimed he is never scared to spend, but window after window he leaves Arsenal short.
The versatility of Aubameyang would be very useful for Arsenal when their annual injury crisis strikes as usual. He can play on both flanks as well as up top. And a great plus is that he is likely to be available for around £
Another good thing about Arsenal signing Aubameyang would be that it would annoy Chelsea fans. Their club have been linked with the signing of the African for sometime now and they certainly would be hoping they get him.
