UEFA Champions League action for Tuesday, November 6, 2012 saw two Barclays Premier League teams playing. Check out the results and highlights from week 4. Match analysis for Premier League teams included.
Manchester City was at home to Ajax where they were hoping to keep their Champions League hopes alive with a win. Instead they were only able to manage a 2 – 2 draw thanks to Yaya Toure and Sergio Aguero. City should have had a penalty when Balotelli was pulled down in the box at the last minute, but instead they are left sitting at the bottom of the Group D table with only 2 points out of a possible 12. At this point they can only hope that they win their next two matches (home to Real Madrid and away to Borussia Dortmund) while also counting on Ajax to get results against Real and Borussia. If City is not able to win in 2 weeks then they will be knocked out.
Arsenal was in Germany to play Schalke 04 who had beaten them 2 weeks ago in London. Arsenal came out strong and took a 2 goal lead heading to the half when Klaas-Jan Huntelaar was able to grab a goal back. Arsenal’s half time lead slipped away in the 67th minute when Jefferson Farfan was able to get a deflection off of Thomas Vermaelen (who has not been playing well lately). The 2 – 2 draw keeps Schalke top of the Group B table with Arsenal 1 point behind in second.
