Manchester United Could Beat Chelsea To Signing Of £65m Star

From all indications, Luke Shaw has fallen out of favour with Jose Mourinho at Old Trafford. The Manchester United boss heavily criticised the England international last year, and ever since then he has not really featured for the Red Devils. When he is not benched, he is suffering from one injury or another. So far this season, Shaw has played a total of 48 minutes in all competitions – a situation which he is very unlikely to be content with.

The lack of game time at Manchester United has practically eroded his chances of playing at the World Cup next year too. A move away from Old Trafford is likely to happen next summer and he has been linked with both a return to Southampton and as part of a swap deal which would enable United to sign Tottenham star Danny Rose.

Aside from Rose, United have been linked with the signing of Juventus star Alex Sandro in recent months. The Brazilian’s contract with Juventus doesn’t expire until 2020 but he could force his way out of the club with reports claiming he only earns £2.5 million per year, which many Premier League clubs could easily double.

Although it was reported weeks ago that the player was going to sign a new five-year contract with the Old Lady it has yet to happen. According to calciomercato.com the negotiations have stalled, which could well play into Manchester United’s hands.

Last summer Chelsea were also linked with the signing for the former FC Porto player, but with Marcos Alonso doing very well for the club already, the Premier League champions do not have the need for another big name signing in this position. The Blues reportedly made a bid of £65 million for the player last summer and nothing much has changed in the player’s form since then, which could make Juventus want to lower their demands – especially as his contract has until 2020 to run. And Sandro himself may feel his chances of regular playing time at Manchester United are better than what they could be at Chelsea.

At United, he would only have the likes of Daley Blind, Marcos Rojo, Matteo Darmian and Ashley Young to compete with.  He would surely fancy his chances, as, although United have a number of players in the left-back position, none of them are as good as Alex Sandro.
