3-4-3 – Nketiah & Chambers To Start – Arsenal’s Likely Line Up For Cologne

Earlier today we posted Arsenal’s likely starting lineup for their Europa League clash against FC Cologne tonight. But since then the Gunners have released some photos from training which suggest Eddie Nketiah could be trusted to lead the line against the German outfit.

The Gunners are already through to the next round of the UEFA’s second club cup competition and do not really need to play a full strength team as just one point in either of their remaining two games will guarantee they top the group.

For this reason, and considering the photos on Arsenal.com, here is how we believe Arsenal will line up for this clash:

David Ospina

The Colombian will be in goal tonight as expected. Davis Ospina has missed Arsenal’s last two Europa League matches due to injury but he is back to full fitness now and will most likely be trusted to start.

Defence

In our previous lineup, Calum Chambers didn’t feature, but the training photos Arsenal posted today show the former Southampton star which could well be an indication that he will be playing later today.

In our predicted lineup we had Mathieu Debuchy at centre-back alongside Per Mertesacker and Rob Holding. We now believe Debuchy will not be part of the three central defenders. Holding, Mertesacker and Chambers will most likely be the starters for this clash.

Midfielder

Mathieu Debuchy will likely move to the right wingback role. On the opposing side will be Ainsley Maitland-Niles. The central midfield pairing is likely to see Francis Coquelin partner Jack Wilshere.

Theo Walcott didn’t feature in the training pictures released by Arsenal, hence we believe he won’t be in action against Cologne. In his place is likely to be Nigerian Alex Iwobi. Arsene Wenger has confirmed Danny Welbeck will start if fit, and for that reason we believe the former Manchester United striker will be on the left side of attack.

Upfront will be the aforementioned Eddie Nketiah.
