There is no doubting the fact that Eden Hazard is one of the truly world class players in the Premier League. One that would get into the first eleven of most clubs in the world.
Despite a slow start to the 2017-18 season due to injury, Hazard has scored six goals and created five assists in 16 appearances for Chelsea in all competitions. The Belgian international is beginning to find his form and clearing any doubts from his critics.
In a bid to encourage the former Lille player to commit his future to Chelsea, Roman Abramovich is said to be ready to increase Hazard’s wage package from €225,000-a-week to €340,000-a-week, which amounts to a hefty €115,000-a-week hike to his current wage. This would make him the Premier League’s highest paid player. This much is being reported by the Express who are citing Belgian media outlet HLN as their source.
Real Madrid are also interested in the Blues star, and with the decline of Cristiano Ronaldo this season, it would not be a surprise if Los Blancos come in for him over the summer. As a way of convincing Hazard to stay at the club, owner Roman Abramovich is said to be ready to tell the Belgian the club will go all out to buy more quality players in the transfer window. This would not only enable the Blues to win the Champions League but also help Eden Hazard win the Ballon d’Or.
It remains to be seen if Hazard would turn down Real Madrid to stay at Chelsea but the new pay increase would go a long way. And how far the club progresses in the Champions League this season could go for or against Chelsea as well. Eden Hazard will obviously want to win the Champions League during his career and Real Madrid present a better opportunity currently.
Another thing that could convince Hazard to leave or stay at Chelsea is whether or not Antonio Conte remains at the club beyond this season. There have also been some rumours claiming the Italian could be sacked by Abramovich, which could bring instability at the club.
