Video highlights for the EPL matches between Newcastle v Arsenal and Tottenham v Sunderland in the race for Champions League football.
Both Arsenal and Tottenham need wins on the final day of the Premier League in their bids for Champions League football. A win for Arsenal ensures them at least fourth depending on what Chelsea does. Tottenham need to win and have Arsenal draw or lose in order for them to leapfrog their London neighbors. Check out the video highlights from both matches below.
Newcastle United 0 – 1 Arsenal: Not much happened in the first half for either team. Newcastle, perhaps, had the better chances with five shots and one on target compared to Arsenal’s three shots and none on target.
The second half started out much better for Arsenal as they pulled ahead on a corner with a goal from Koscielny. Koscielny’s goal was enough for them to go through as winners. Spurs won as well today, but Arsenal had their destiny in their own hands. Chelsea beat Everton 2-1 meaning that Arsenal finish in fourth and will play Champions League football again next year. This will be Arsene Wenger’s 16th consecutive season bringing Arsenal Champions League football.

Tottenham Hotspur 0 – 0 Sunderland: In the first half Tottenham had the better chances, but Sunderland were able to keep them out. Gareth Bale was taken down in the box and should have had a penalty to put Spurs up, but instead he was given a yellow card. Half time ended 0 – 0.
In the 62nd minute Tottenham should have scored with the ball pinging around in the box with two saves and a ball off the post. Gareth Bale was able to get a goal for Tottenham and give them the 1-0 win, however, Arsenal was able to hang on to their 1-0 lead to come through winners as well. Tottenham finish the season in fifth and will play in the Europa League again next season as they miss out on Champions League football yet again.
