West Bromwich Albion v Fulham: Fulham has been struggling recently, including giving QPR their first win of the season. Bryan Ruiz’s return could spark Fulham and get them back to winning, but they will have a hard time doing so against West Brom. West Brom may have looked poor against Manchester United over the weekend but I can’t see them putting in such a poor performance against Fulham. I’m picking West Brom to come out on top in this match, especially since they are at home. There is always the chance for Fulham to get a draw, but I see West Brom coming back strong on Tuesday.

West Brom (L, D, W, W, L)                Fulham (W, L, L, D, L)

Manchester City v Stoke City: Another test for Stoke and their stout defense. Manchester City has the fourth highest scoring team in the league while Stoke has the best defensive record. Man City’s recent performances have not been the most convincing, but they will be at home where they always seem to score. It is very likely that Stoke could get something out of this match and I could see it going either way with a City win or a Stoke win. However, I’m going to pick a draw considering the recent form of both clubs.

Manchester City(L, W, W, L, W)           Stoke (D, D, D, W, D)

Swansea City v Aston Villa: Aston Villa’s struggles have continued over the holiday and I don’t see them getting better against a Swansea side that has been playing well recently. Aston Villa is a team that could easily be swept into relegation while Swansea was able to get a win over the weekend even without their top scorer, Michu. I’m predicting a Swansea win on Tuesday afternoon.

Swansea City (L, L, D, D, W)                     Aston Villa (D, W, L, L, L)

Tottenham Hotspur v Reading: I know that Reading won over the weekend and they have managed to put together two good results in a row, but Tottenham are in a completely different gear. It is quite possible that Reading could manage a draw, but I have a hard time seeing them being able to hold off a Tottenham team that has recently been scoring goals for fun. I’m picking Spurs to get a solid win.

Tottenham (L, W, D, W, W)              Reading (L, L, L, D, W)

West Ham United v Norwich City: This is a match of two slumping teams, both of which have put together decent runs of results, but have recently slipped in form. West Ham will still be missing Andy Carroll as well as Yossi Benayoun, Mohamed Diame and Kevin Nolan. Norwich are still without John Ruddy in goal and it is still debatable whether Grant Holt will be fit in time for Tuesday. This is a match that really could go either way, but more likely it will be a result for Norwich. In the end I’m predicting a Norwich win.

West Ham United (W, L, D, L, L)      Norwich City (W, W, L, L, L)

Wigan Athletic v Manchester United: Wigan finally got a good win over Aston Villa over the weekend, but Manchester United has been on an unbeaten run over the last 8 matches, with the one draw being the only non-win in that time. It might not be comfortable, but I’m predicting a Manchester United win.

Wigan (D, L, L, L, W)               Manchester United (W, W, D, W, W)

Southampton v Arsenal: Southampton’s inability to keep out goals should be interesting against an Arsenal team that has shown the ability to overrun team’s that don’t defend well. Southampton is better at home, but Arsenal shouldn’t have much problem winning.

Southampton (L, W, L, D, D)                     Arsenal (L, W, W, W, W)

Chelsea v Queens Park Rangers: Woeful Queens Park Rangers has to travel to high flying Chelsea. I see only one result: a Chelsea win and most likely rather large.

Chelsea (L, W, W, W, W)                  QPR (D, W, L, L, L)

Liverpool v Sunderland: This should be a tricky match for both clubs and I could see this one going either way. Liverpool have such a streaky run of form and continue to be inconsistent while Sunderland has been showing some signs of improvement recently. I think this is a match that could easily end in a draw, but I’m going to predict a Liverpool win to start out the new year.

Liverpool (W, L, W, L, W)                             Sunderland (W, L, W, W, L)

Newcastle United v Everton: Newcastle showed some improvement against Manchester United, but then rolled over against Arsenal. Both matches saw plenty of goals. In Everton they will have a different test. Everton has shown more solidity throughout the entirety of the pitch. Newcastle has the chance to turn things around at home and this could easily end in a draw or Newcastle win. Despite that I think Everton will be the stronger team, especially with the return of Marouane Fellaini. I’m predicting Everton will start 2013 with a win.

Newcastle (L, L, W, L, L)                   Everton (W, D, W, W, L)

*W/D/L stats are based on the past 5 Premier League competitions

Let me know what you think. Do you think I picked them right? Any changes you would make?
