3 best fantasy football captains for GW8

The EPL heads into its final weekend before an international break and we’re coming off the back of midweek ties in Europe, meaning there are four games on Sunday.

Tottenham Hotspur return from their humiliating 7-2 thrashing at home to Bayern Munich to travel to Brighton & Hove Albion on Saturday lunchtime, whilst Liverpool face a potentially tricky tie at home to Liverpool.

Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester City and Manchester United are all in action on Sunday.

Here are my tips for your fantasy football captain this weekend:

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang

Arsenal return from their comfortable 4-0 win over Standard Liege at the Emirates Stadium in the Europa League to host Bournemouth in the Premier League on Sunday. Unai Emery’s side are starting to click and the manager is finding more depth to his squad with these impressive performances in continental competition this season.

Buyako Saka is one of those and the teenager is expected to start on the left wing again this weekend. He’ll be looking to create chances for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang whilst Nicolas Pepe will be doing the same from the right. I would expect Spanish playmaker Dani Ceballos to start this game too.

There should be lots of goals in this game and with Aubameyang being the top scorer among these two teams heading into the game and rested midweek, I would expect the Gabon international to get among the goals.

Tammy Abraham

Chelsea come back from their successful trip to Lille in the Champions League on Tuesday to travel to the south coast of England on Sunday where they will take on Southampton.

Frank Lampard’s side have been scoring for fun this season and I don’t expect the Saints to shut them down at St Mary’s. In fact, Ralph Hasenhuttl’s side have taken just one point from their first three home games this season whilst Chelsea have been very good on the road.

Despite starting midweek I expect Abraham to get the nod ahead of Olivier Giroud and Michy Batshuayi again because the Blues have had a long rest since their short trip to France. The young Englishman is scoring versus the sides in the bottom half and I wouldn’t be surprised if he gets another brace this weekend.

John Lundstram

Sheffield United travel to Watford on Saturday in a game I can see the Blades picking up all three points on the road. Quique Sanchez Flores’ side have taken just two points from their opening seven games, have been shut out in four of those and were recently hammered 8-0 at Manchester City.

Chris Wilder’s side are well setup and a clean sheet could well be on the cards for Dean Henderson and co. John Lundstram is listed as a defender on fantasy football but actually plays central midfield. That means he would get 4 bonus points for a clean sheet whilst also playing higher up the field to give him a better chance to get among the goals than actual Sheffield United defenders.
