Best fantasy football starting XI after GW10

We are now 10 games into the 2019/20 EPL season and the table is starting to take shape.

Liverpool have a 10-point lead over rivals Manchester City as Jurgen Klopp’s side remain unbeaten and have only dropped points on one occasion to start the new campaign.

Manchester United are going to have a tough time finishing in the top four to qualify for Champions League football next season, whilst Leicester City are proving to be a surprise package.

At the bottom end of the table, things are already looking desperate for winless Watford, whilst they are joined in the relegation zone by Norwich City and Southampton.

Here are the top eleven players to score the most points through 10 games:

Goalkeeper: Ederson (Manchester City) – 44 points
Manchester City have kept a clean sheet in half of their league games, which is more than any other side. Brazilian goalkeeper Ederson has started every game for Pep Guardiola’s side this season and made a couple of important stops in the process. He has 1 more fantasy point than Wolverhampton Wanderers’ Rui Patricio.

Defender 1: Ricardo Pereira (Leicester City) – 48 points
The Portuguese right-back was a hit among fantasy players last season and continues to deliver for his managers. Ricardo Pereira and the Foxes kept their third clean sheet of the season on Friday night, whilst the attacking defender has also chipped in with two goals this season. He was also awarded man of the match bonus points in their season opening 0-0 draw against Wolves.

Defender 2: John Lundstram (Sheffield United) – 47 points
Listed a defender on the official Premier League fantasy football game, John Lundstram actually plays centre midfield for Sheffield United, and plays every minute too. Lundstram is becoming more and more popular with each gameweek, seeing his value rise from 4.0 at the beginning of the season, to 4.6 today. Benefiting from the clean sheets that his defence gets, the player listed as a defender also has a goal and an assist this season.

Defender 3: Enda Stevens (Sheffield United) – 43 points
Another cheap buy in defence is Sheffield United’s left wingback, Enda Stevens. The Republic of Ireland international has been part of Chris Wilder’s side that have kept four clean sheets through their first 10 games back in the top flight, and during Saturday’s 1-1 draw at West Ham United, he recorded his second assist of the season. There are three defenders tied on 43 points, but Stevens is cheaper than Liverpool duo Andrew Robertson and Trent Alexander-Arnold.

Midfielder 1: Kevin De Bruyne (Manchester City) – 72 points
Only Leicester City’s Jamie Vardy has accumulated more fantasy points through 10 gameweeks than Manchester City’s Kevin De Bruyne. And if the Belgian superstar hadn’t have been honest to admit it wasn’t his goal on Saturday, he would have at least three more points to his name to put him above Vardy. De Bruyne is involved in all of Manchester City’s attacks, and with his two goals and 10 assists, he’s pretty prolific in the final third too.

Midfielder 2: Sadio Mane (Liverpool) – 64 points
Sadio Mane is silently chipping away with fantasy points this season – more than both Mohamed Salah and Roberto Firmino alongside him in the Liverpool attack. The Senegalese international has five goals to his name this season, and by winning the penalty on Sunday, he now has three assists in fantasy football.

Midfielder 3: Raheem Sterling (Manchester City) – 64 points
Despite not featuring in Manchester City’s 8-0 thrashing of Watford last month, Raheem Sterling still comfortably makes it onto the list. The England international netted his seventh goal of the season to get things started in the Citizens’ 3-0 win over Aston Villa on Saturday. And the week before, he registered his first assist of the season in their 2-0 win at Crystal Palace.

Midfielder 4: Mohamed Salah (Liverpool) – 62 points
Mohamed Salah returned from his twisted ankle to score the penalty to see off Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday. The Egyptian now matches teammate Sadio Mane with five goals and three assists on the season. He’s two fantasy points behind his teammate because he missed the whole game versus Manchester United, whilst Mane has featured in all 10 games, and Salah also has one less bonus point through 10 games.

Striker 1: Jamie Vardy (Leicester City) – 74 points
Jamie Vardy and Leicester City are having great success under Brendan Rodgers, sitting in third spot with just over a quarter of the season now behind us. The striker had a field day on Friday night too by netting a hat-trick in the record 9-0 thrashing of Southampton. In all, Vardy collected 20 fantasy points that evening – a dream choice as your captain, or Triple Captain.

Striker 2: Sergio Aguero (Manchester City) – 62 points
Despite only starting six of Manchester City’s 10 games to start the new season, Sergio Aguero is still the second highest-scoring forward in fantasy football. Given his injury woes over the years, and now 31, his manager is rotating him more after international breaks and Champions League games now. It’s not like Gabriel Jesus is a bad replacement, but it can be frustrating for fantasy football players. When Aguero starts though, he does deliver.

Striker 3: Tammy Abraham (Chelsea) 61 points
The young Chelsea striker made an emphatic start to the 2019-20 season under Frank Lampard by scoring seven goals in his first five Premier League appearances. However, Tammy Abraham has only scored once since, which includes being shut out by the likes of Brighton & Hove Albion, Newcastle United and Burnley in recent weeks. Should Abraham not get back among the goals quickly, you’ve got to wonder if Michy Batshuayi will get the nod instead…
