This Preview for Chelsea v West Bromwich Albion includes my Premier League Predictions and pre-match analysis for Match Week 28 of the EPL.
The last two times these clubs met it resulted in the sacking of Chelsea’s manager, and it’s quite possible that this could happen again. Chelsea have managed to win in their midweek FA Cup match, but I would say it was far from convincing. West Brom, on the other hand, have a 2 match winning streak going with a home win against Sunderland and an away win to Liverpool. Unfortunately for West Brom they will be without the Chelsea loanee, Romelu Lukaku. They should still have enough firepower up front with Shane Long and possibly Peter Odemwingie.
One of the questions for Chelsea will be whether they field a strong side or not. They did rest several players midweek, but also have a Europa League match coming up on Thursday where they travel to Bucharest. I would say that Rafa Benitez will put out a strong Chelsea squad and look for the win, considering his current position in the club.
The problems with Chelsea this year have been widely publicized, but it all comes down to a lack of consistency across the board and this has made it extremely hard to predict what they will do, or which team will show up. For Saturday’s Premier League match I really think it could go anyway, but I see the result going in the Baggies favor with at least a draw. My prediction, though, is a West Brom win by one goal.
Chelsea (W, D, L, W, L) 1 – 2 West Brom (D, L, L, W, W)
