Saturday, May 25 was the 2013 Champions League Final with Bayern Munich v Borussia Dortmund. Check out the video highlights and score from the match that took place at Wembley Stadium in London, England.
Champions League Score: Bayern Munich 2 – 1 Borusssia Dortmund: The match itself was a great one to watch despite the first half ending at 0 – 0. Bayern Munich took the lead through Mario Mandzukic in the 60th minute with a fantastic move and pass from Arjen Robben.
This was soon followed up by a 69th minute penalty through Illkay Gundogan. This came after Dante gave up the penalty and was extremely lucky to stay on the pitch having already picked up an earlier yellow card.
Bayern dominated possession and had the better chances for the remainder of the match, but saved the drama for the 89th minute. Ribery received a great through ball and managed to squeeze it into the path of Robben who put the ball in past the dive of Weidenfeller.
Robben took the time to celebrate the goal with the Munich faithful behind the goal and at the final whistle dropped to his knees in relief.
Bayern Munich were the clear favorites going into the match and they were able to prove why they were. They were dominant throughout the match. Borussia Dortmund did very well to continue playing and creating some good chances. Bayern was just too strong for them and were deserved winners.
