Week 2 Saturday Premier League Results and Highlights [VIDEO]

Premier League Video Highlights

Saturday’s week 2 matches in the Premier League kicked off with Fulham v Arsenal in the rain. Results and video highlights will be posted as they are available for the rest of Saturday’s EPL games.

You can also check out when and where to watch each Premier League match live on TV or the internet.

Fulham 1 – 3 Arsenal: Arsenal travelled to Craven Cottage to face Fulham in a match that started out in pouring rain which made the entirety of the match quite difficult. Fulham played a high tempo counterattack with Dimitar Berbatov and Adel Taarabt playing high up the pitch and the fullbacks and midfield pushing up quickly in attack. Arsenal were too much for them offensively and Fulham weren’t able to break through until the 77th minute, by which point they had already given up 3 goals. This was a much better game and result for Arsenal than their opening day 3-1 defeat to Aston Villa

Goalscorers: Giroud 13’; Podolski 41’; Podolski 68’; Bent 77’

Everton 0 – 0 West Bromwich Albion:

A very disappointing draw for Everton who have not been able to stamp there mark on either of their matches to start this season. They completed dominated the stats with 62% possession resulting in 20 shots, 8 of which were on goal.

Hull City 1 – 0 Norwich City: Brady 22’ PEN

Hull jumped out to an early first half lead when Michael Turner brought down Yannick Sagbo in the box. The ensuing penalty was stuck in by Robbie Brady. Norwich was unable to take advantage of 10 man Hull after Yannick Sagbo was given a straight red card for a head butt. It was a disappointing game for Norwich who should have done much better.

Newcastle United 0 – 0 West Ham United:  Not really a good match for anyone to watch. Lots of long balls and crosses into the box from West Ham resulted in 6 shots and only 1 on target. However, this was not nearly as bad as Newcastle who had most of the possession and 16 shots, but not one on target.

Southampton 1 – 1 Sunderland: Giaccherini 2’; Fonte 87’

Southampton were stunned at home when the diminutive Emanuele Giaccherini headed in for Sunderland in only the second minute of play. The Saints thought they had equalized through Rickie Lambert several minutes later, but it was ruled offside. The rest of the match was scrappy with Southampton getting most of the ball and the better chances, but weren’t able to score until the 87th minute through Jose Fonte to snatch a deserved point.

Stoke City 2 – 1 Crystal Palace: Chamakh 30’; Adam 58’; Shawcross 62’

Stoke City went into halftime a goal down to Crystal Palace thanks to Marouane Chamakh. The second half saw Stoke able to fight back and get two goals through Charlie Adam and Ryan Shawcross and deserve the three points. This is a match that they needed to win considering the fact that Crystal Palace will most likely struggle this season and Stoke don’t want to be involved in another relegation battle.

Aston Villa 0 – 1 Liverpool: Sturridge 21′

Liverpool were dominant through almost the entire first half, but, once again, were only able to get one goal. That one goal came from some excellent passing and even better dribbling and skill from Daniel Sturridge to create the goal. Aston Villa got themselves back into the game in the second half and began to create some chances. Villa again could’ve had a penalty when Benteke was pushed in the box on a corner, but nothing was given. Villa would have some positives to take away from this match in which they pushed Liverpool, but could not convert their chances. Liverpool should have done more in the first half when they were absolutely dominant, but did well to hang on for another 1-0 win, and their second clean sheet of the new season.
