My predictions for Week 5 of the English Premier League. For more in-depth review check out the Match of the Week.

Swansea City v. Everton:  Both teams started off the season hot and have tailed off a bit the past two games. Both teams have relatively strong midfields, but I would tip the balance towards Everton on the defense. I wouldn’t be surprised with a win for either team, but I’m predicting a draw for this one.

Chelsea v. Stoke City: With Stoke picking up Michael Owen recently I would expect to see him start and give them a different dimension. Chelsea is coming off their Champions League frustration so Stoke may be able to sneak in a goal or two. I do believe that Chelsea are too strong for this to happen and they will take full points from this one.

Southampton v. Aston Villa: Southampton has really struggled to start their Premier League campaign. I think that this is the match where they might finally get their first win.

West Bromwich Albion v. Reading: West Brom has pretty much picked up where they left off. They’ve been a solid team that puts up solid displays each week. I’m going with West Brom getting the win in this one.

West Ham United v. Sunderland: This one could be interesting. I could see O’Neill being content to get a draw away to West Ham. I’m going to pick a draw for this match, 0-0.

Wigan Athletic v. Fulham: Fulham’s addition of Berbatov could make all the difference in this one. They have put in some spotty games this year, but Wigan have not exactly started brilliantly. Fulham should be able to take this one.

Liverpool v. Manchester United: see my Match of the Week.

Newcastle United v. Norwich City:  With Pardew having rested most of his starters for their Europa League trip, they should be rested and ready to go for this one. Norwich hasn’t been sparkling to start with 3 draws and a loss. I’m predicting another loss for them here.

Manchester City v. Arsenal: Both teams are coming into this match from different directions. City drew away to Sunderland followed by a Champions League loss to Real Madrid. Meanwhile Arsenal are now on a 3 match winning streak with 2 wins in the Premier League and a Champions League win. Despite this I’m predicting a 1-1 draw between these two. Should be a good match to watch live on FOX Soccer Channel.

Tottenham v. Queens Park Rangers: Could be a close match. My prediction for this one is a draw though, it could easily go either way. Tottenham could be a bit worn out from their hard fought draw against Lazio on Thursday evening.
