Premier League Predictions: Swansea v West Ham Preview

Premier League Previews

Premier League Preview for Swansea v West Ham along with Predictions for every result in the EPL. Follow up each match with results and video highlights posted later in the week.

The week 9 Premier League Predictions have been posted, so go read up on my EPL picks for the weekend. Be sure to also check out the Premier League TV Schedule and 2013-14 Premier League Table.

Swansea and West Ham United are separated by only two points with Swansea on ten points in 11th place while West Ham has eight points in 14th place. Both teams have had somewhat inconsistent starts to the season with four losses for each of them.

Swansea finally put out a strong showing in last weekend’s 4-0 home win over Sunderland. This added to their EPL season tally to give them 12 goals on the season with an average of 14 shots per game and 1.5 goals per game for a conversion rate of 10%. In matches they have continued to dominate possession with an average of 57% along with an 87% pass success rate, which leads the league.

West Ham has scored eight goals with an average of one goal per game and 11.8 shots per game for an 8% conversion rate. They tend to allow other teams to control the ball with their 43% average possession. They also have a 73% pass success rate. Along with their eight goals scored they have allowed eight goals.

My prediction for Sunday’s match is a Swansea City win. They have continued to be inconsistent, but playing at home will be a boost for them. West Ham seems to have found the tactical strategy that Sam Allardyce is happy with considering he is still without Andy Carroll. Instead of playing a striker he has gone with six in midfield and played a defend and counter tactic. This worked out very well against Tottenham and could be the way to get a result in Swansea. Both Swansea and Tottenham play a possession based game to create chances. If West Ham can hold on and keep Swansea at bay, they could do the same thing they did to Spurs and pick off some goals as the Swans push forward.

Betting Odds: Swansea win: 1.71-1.75; Draw: 3.68-4.02; West Ham win: 4.96-5.54

Form: Swansea (W, D, W, L, L, W)   West Ham (L, D, L, L, W, L)

Prediction: Swansea City 2 – 1 West Ham United
