Spurs season has started well, despite what many fans seem to think. They are currently in fourth place and level with Liverpool and Chelsea on points with 20. The difficulty they have had has been in scoring and really clicking as a team offensively. With the players they brought in most people assume they should be doing better, but they really need time to get going and will be deadly when they do. At home this season Tottenham have a 3-1-1 record while scoring five goals and allowing just four. This includes keeping three clean sheets.
Newcastle did very well in the home 2-0 win over Chelsea last weekend. In addition they have done well enough to move into ninth place in the table with a 4-2-4 record and 14 points. They have struggled defensively at times this season and have allowed 16 goals while scoring 14. In away matches they are 2-0-3 while scoring seven goals and allowing 11.
I’m predicting a Tottenham home win, but it won’t be easy. Newcastle went out against Chelsea with a set game plan, which they should do again against Tottenham. If they can frustrate Spurs and hold off their attack, they could get a draw. Even more, they could get a win if they are able to get a counter as Tottenham push for the win. In head to head matches Tottenham has a slight advantage over their past six meetings with three wins, two draws and one Newcastle win. All of this coming in the EPL.
Betting Odds: Spurs win: 1.50-1.56; Draw: 4.18-4.40; Newcastle win: 6.60-7.00
Form: Tottenham (W, D, L, W, W, D) Newcastle (L, L, W, D, L, W)
