Champions League Predictions and Preview Round 5 Wednesday’s Matches

UEFA Champions League Predictions

The Champions League returns on Tuesday and Wednesday with round 5 of the group stages. Several teams can guarantee their advancement to the knockout rounds this week and there are a select few that can win their groups. Read my previews and predictions for Wednesday’s matches.

This Champions League season it is quite probably that all four English Premier League teams will be advancing to the knockout stage with Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester City, and Manchester United in action. All four teams could possibly ensure they advance if results go right.

Wednesday’s Champions League Matches:

Group A: Manchester United remain top of the table with eight points while Bayer Leverkusen are just behind them with seven. Shakhtar Donetsk still has a chance to move on as they are in third place on five points. Real Sociedad look to be out at the bottom with a single point. Bayer Leverkusen host Manchester United with a chance to go top of the table while Shakhtar Donetsk host Real Sociedad and could move up to second place depending on results. My prediction is for a Bayer Leverkusen v Manchester United draw while Shakhtar win at home.

Group B:  Real Madrid are looking to clinch the group with a win or draw while Juventus are hoping to get a win and move themselves up into position to advance in the final week. Galatasaray and Copenhagen each have four points in second place while Juventus are bottom of the table with only three points from three draws. My prediction is for a Real Madrid win to advance and a Juventus win to move themselves into second in the group.

Group C: Paris Saint Germain is another team that could clinch the group with a win or draw. Olympiakos is in second place with seven points while Benfica is just behind them with four. Anderlecht sit at the bottom of the group with a single point. I’m predicting that Real Madrid get the win they need to advance as group winners while Benfica edge Anderlecht to move up into second.

Group D: Bayern Munich could also be group winners with a win on Wednesday. They are already guaranteed to advance to the knockout phase. Manchester City could book their place with a win as they sit in second with nine points. Viktoria Plzen has scored only two goals and has zero points with four losses leaving them bottom of the table. CSKA Moscow has only one win as they take on FC Bayern. My prediction is for a Bayern Munich away win to clinch and a Manchester City home win to also ensure they progress.
