Stoke City

Stoke head into Wednesday having now gone unbeaten in their past six Premier League matches at home. This is a good thing for them considering that they have lost their last two away matches by a combined score of 1-8.

Against Tottenham they looked like they were in the game until they gave up the penalty from a Shawcross handball in the box. After giving up that goal, they fell apart and ended up going down 3-0. This is similar to the previous match on Boxing Day when they went up 1-0, but then had Whelan and Wilson sent off and the wheels fell off leading to a 5-1 drubbing.

Everton

Everton has been perhaps the breakout team of the season. They are currently unbeaten in 11 out of their last 12 EPL matches. They have been averaging 1.6 goals per game from 15.3 shots per game; a pretty good conversion rate of 10%. They come into Wednesday having beaten Southampton 2-1 at home to move up into fourth place with 37 points.

Prediction

I’m predicting an Everton win. Everton’s recent form has been impressive and their free flowing attacking football, coupled with a solid defense, will be too much for Stoke to handle. Stoke certainly do have a chance at a result, but will need to be careful of the large number of attacking threats at Everton’s disposal which includes Romelu Lukaku (9 goals), Seamus Coleman (5 goals) and Ross Barkley (3 goals).

Betting Odds: Stoke win: 3.69-4.12; Draw: 3.34-3.48; Everton win: 2.04-2.10

Form: Stoke (D, W, D, W, L, L) Everton (W, D, W, W, L, W)

Prediction: Stoke City 1 – 2 Everton
