Coming into this weekend Newcastle have now lost three matches in a row in all competitions. They have dropped down into 8th in the Premier League with 33 points and the FA Cup loss to Cardiff is certainly something that will have hurt them.
In their last three matches they have scored just one goal coming in the 1-2 home loss in the FA Cup. They will have a boost in most likely having Tim Krul available for Sunday, and they will certainly need him.
Regardless of what the Citizens do in the Capital One Cup semifinal against West Ham United, they will have plenty of options available for them on Sunday. The one issue for them will be the back line. While they do have Kompany back, Manchester City still are without Micah Richards and also have concerns about Martin Dimichelis.
Manchester City has continued to win games and score goals including scoring at least three goals in three out of their last four away Premier League matches. The more concerning thing is that in those same three out of four matches they have allowed two goals.
I’m picking Manchester City to come out with another win, but wouldn’t write off Newcastle United. They have already proven that they can get results this season and will likely set themselves up to go for it against a team that has had difficulties with keeping clean sheets.
I predict that this match will be rather open with goals scored at both ends. In Manchester City’s last three away Premier League games they have won by a single goal and wouldn’t be surprised by this occurring yet again.
Betting Odds: Newcastle win: 4.98-5.50; Draw: 3.84-4.25; Man City: 1.67-1.70
Form: Newcastle (W, D, W, W, L, L) City (D, W, W, W, W, W)
