The Toffees excellent season has continued with their 4-0 FA Cup win over QPR. In the Premier League they enter Saturday sitting in fifth place with 38 points, just one point behind rivals Liverpool. Their last home match was the 0-1 loss to Sunderland courtesy of Tim Howard’s red card and penalty give away. This was their only league loss in 2013 and also means that they have been unbeaten in 18 of their last 19 EPL games.
Over their last six EPL matches they have scored 10 goals while allowing six goals and not keeping a clean sheet. This bumped their season tally up to 19 goals allowed and do have eight clean sheets.
Norwich are still involved in the FA Cup after their 1-1 draw against Fulham. In the league, they have continued to struggle despite moving clear of relegation for the time being. They are currently in 15th place with 20 points, but this is just three points above Crystal Palace in 18th.
Norwich have not won any of their last five EPL matches, which could be looked at in a positive way considering that they have three draws in that time. The difficulties for Norwich this season has been the inability to score goals, with just 17 scored this season.
My pick is for Everton to come through with a win and a clean sheet. Norwich should have most of their injured players returning, but Everton have a strong team and should have Sylvain Distin available to strengthen their back line.
Norwich should have a chance to get a result, but it will need to be done by frustrating Everton defensively and hoping to get a counter goal. A win for Norwich would be seen as a shock, especially considering their difficulties scoring coupled with Everton’s strong defense.
Betting Odds: Everton win: 1.38-1.40; Draw: 4.53-5.06; Norwich win: 8.51-9.58
Form: Everton (D, W, W, L, W, D) Norwich (W, D, D, L, L, D)
Prediction: Everton 3 – 0 Norwich City
