Birmingham v Swansea FA Cup Fourth Round Preview and Prediction

2014 FA Cup Predictions

Swansea are travelling to Birmingham for their Fourth Round FA Cup match in what should be a close game. Read on for my preview and prediction including betting odds.

Birmingham

Birmingham have had some struggles this season in the Championship where they are in 17th place with a 7-8-11 record and 29 points. This puts them seven points above the drop zone with a -2 goal difference having scored 30 and allowed 32.

In round three of the FA Cup they beat League Two side Bristol Rovers 3-0 to advance. Their recent form has taken a dip with one win in their last three matches, however before that they had gone ten matches unbeaten in the Championship.

Swansea

The Swans have had their own difficulties in this Premier League campaign. They are currently in 15th place with a 5-6-11 record and 21 points which keeps them just three points above relegation. An FA Cup run could be a positive thing for them, however, it could also just become another distraction as well. While a loss in another match could be a problem it should be noted that they are still in the Europa League and this seems to have really derailed their Premier League season. Adding yet another tournament to the mix could continue their struggles.

Prediction: Birmingham 1 – 1 Swansea City

While my pick is for a draw, I could definitely see Birmingham coming through as winners in this one, particularly if they are level going into the last 15-20 minutes of the match.

With the amount of matches Swansea has already played and has coming up, this is one that could be written off as being not nearly as important as trying to stay out of a relegation battle in the Premier League.

Betting Odds (Ladbrokes): Birmingham win: 3.75; Draw: 3.40; Swansea win: 2.00

Form: Birmingham (D, W, D, L, W, L) Swansea (L, D, L, W, L, L)
