Manchester City v Watford FA Cup Preview and Prediction

2014 FA Cup Predictions

Manchester City play host to Watford in the FA Cup Fourth Round on Saturday at 10:00/15:00. Read on for my preview and prediction including analysis and betting odds.

Manchester City

In the previous round Manchester City actually needed a replay to advance to the fourth round. While they drew 1-1 away to Blackburn, the second match was not even close with Manchester City running out 5-0 winners at home. Their recent 3-0 win over West Ham United in the League Cup not only sends them to the Final, but also gave them a massive 9-0 aggregate win.

At the moment they are on a run of 18 matches without a loss in all competitions. Their last loss was 1-0 away to Sunderland way back on November 11. In the FA Cup they have won 19 of their last 21 matches.

Watford

Watford are currently in 15th place in the Championship with 31 points, but do have a +5 goal difference with their 36 scored and 31 allowed. In the Third Round of the FA Cup they also needed a replay following an away 1-1 draw to Bristol City. In the replay at home they came through 2-0. Their most recent form has seen them with one loss in their last seven, but in that time they also have just two wins, one of those being the 2-0 to Bristol City in the FA Cup.

Prediction: Manchester City 4 – 0 Watford

At this time it’s hard to see Manchester City losing a match like this, especially playing at home. My pick is a comfortable Manchester City win. If they rest players there is a chance of it being lower scoring and of Watford getting a goal or two, but even then a Manchester City win is an easy prediction to make.

Betting Odds (Ladbrokes):

Man City win: 1.10; Draw: 10.00; Watford win: 21.00

Form: Man City (D, W, W, W, W, W) Watford (W, D, D, L, W, D)
