The red side of Liverpool came through their fourth round FA Cup match unscathed with a comfortable 2-0 away win at Bournemouth. In the Premier League, Liverpool are currently one point above Everton with 43 points to put them in fourth place. They have scored the second most goals this season with 53 while allowing 28, which also gives them the second best goal difference.
In Liverpool’s last eight Premier League matches they have scored at least two goals per game and have gone unbeaten. They have lost just once all season at home, 1-0 to Southampton, and have kept four clean sheets while allowing only one opponent to score more than one goal in any match, which actually came in the last EPL game against Aston Villa.
Liverpool have had some struggles with injuries this season. At the moment they will be without Lucas Leiva, John Flanagan, Glen Johnson, and most likely Mamadou Sakho, although he is questionable for Tuesday.
Everton may have advanced comfortably into the fifth round of the FA Cup, but it came at a cost as Brian Oviedo was stretchered off with what is reported to be a fractured leg. This adds to their injury list where he will accompany recent Ross Barkley, Darron Gibson, and Arouna Kone with long term injuries. They may have Steven Pienaar, Seamus Coleman, and Antolin Alcaraz returning, but they are all questionable at this point.
Everton are heading to Liverpool having lost just once in their last 15 Premier League matches, which increases to 17 matches in all competitions. In fact, they have lost just three matches all season in all competitions and only two in the Premier League.
My pick is a Liverpool win. Everton have run into problems with injuries recently and this is certainly going to be an issue when coming up against their rivals. I could see them playing for a draw in this match, and they could get it, there have been times that Liverpool has struggled to break down teams, which was noted against Aston Villa.
