The Swans have had a very inconsistent season so far. At the moment they are a team that could very easily get sucked down to the bottom of the table. They are in 15th place with only 21 points, just three above the drop zone and only two above Fulham.
This season they have averaged 1.2 goals per game, but this goes up to 1.7 per game with a 12% conversion rate during home matches. They have conceded an average of 1.5 goals per game, but this again goes up in home matches where they have given up 1.8 per game.
Swansea has had quite a few injury concerns lately and this could be a major factor in the match. Those injured include: Jonathan De Guzman, Nathan Dyer, Pablo Hernandez, Jose Canas, Michu, Garry Monk, Jonjo Shelvey, and Michel Vorm
The Cottagers season has gotten better since bringing in Rene Muelensteen as manager. Still, they have continued to have struggles and are still mired in the relegation battle where they are 17th in the table with 19 points, just one off of the bottom three.
They travel to Swansea and have had difficulties on the road all season long with only three wins and no draw in the Premier League. They have failed to score in five out of their last seven away fixtures and have kept just one clean sheet on the road all season.
In away Premier League matches they have scored an average of 0.7 goals per game while giving up 2.4 per game.
Injury concerns are not much of a worry for Fulham with Fernando Amorebieta their only questionable injury at this time.
My pick is a draw in what could be considered a six pointer. Fulham will not make it easy for Swansea and could get a win. It seems like this is a make or break match for Swansea where a loss would well and truly put them in the relegation battle, and one which they could struggle to get out of.
I believe this is a match in which the fixture pileup and injury crisis at Swansea will be the most apparent. They should be the clear favorites, but with so many players out, it’s going to be difficult.
Betting Odds (Ladbrokes):
Prediction: Swansea 1 – 1 Fulham
