While Manchester City are having some problems with injuries, the depth of their squad means that this really should not be such of an issue, and yet, it is being thrown out there as the reason for their recent loss and draw. Still, they are in third place with 54 points and are within touching distance of first.
Their last home match was the 1-0 loss to Chelsea and was their first home loss this season. It was also the first time in 61 matches that they did not score in a home Premier League match. Manchester City may be without Yaya Toure with the possibility of retrospective action after his kick out at Ricky van Wolfswinkel near the end of their match. To go along with him they are still without Samir Nasri, Sergio Aguero, and Fernandinho.
The weekend loss to Hull City was a blow for what was a good run of four matches unbeaten in the Premier League. It was also the first match in their last five in which they failed to score.
My pick is for Manchester City to get back to winning. Sunderland are a team that has begun to prove itself recently and could get a result out of this, especially considering the loss of several key figures at City.
Betting Odds (Ladbrokes):
Manchester City win: 1.18; Draw: 7.00; Sunderland win: 13.00
Form: Manchester City (W, W, W, W, L, D) Sunderland (L, W, D, W, W, L)
