Fantasy Friday: Week 13 FPL Tips for Adding and Dropping Players

Fantasy Premier League TipsIn my game week 13 tips for the Fantasy Premier League season I will be reviewing which players you should be adding and which to begin dropping. At this point of the season matches will be coming thick and fast and owners will need to stay on top of their teams. There is also a trend at this point in which there isn’t a very good blueprint for players to specifically follow anymore.

To start off let’s look at Southampton. While they have looked quite good all season, they now have a string of difficult fixtures and I’m predicting that this is where they start to slip. I’m recommending that you start dropping your Southampton players.

Dusan Tadic (£7.9) has put in some sub-par fantasy premier league performances in his last four matches scoring 3, 3, 3, and 2 points. Graziano Pelle (£8.4) has looked much better with his last big match coming five weeks ago. Since then he has scored 5, 2, 5, and 2 points.

Victor Wanyama (£4.8) has continued to put in consistent performances while Ryan Bertrand (£5.6) and Nathaniel Clyne (£5.8) off the possibility of getting both attacking and defensive points. However, with matches coming up against Manchester City this weekend followed by Arsenal then Manchester United, it might be time to start looking elsewhere for points. Arsenal may still be leaking goals, but Manchester United is starting to tighten up at the back.

The team to look at for some long term pickups due to a string of favorable matchups is Swansea City. Their next match against a big team doesn’t come until January 17 against Chelsea. Until then their biggest tests will be against the likes of West Ham United and Tottenham Hotspur. The next two weeks see them play at home to Crystal Palace and Queens Park Rangers. Other matchups include West Ham away and home, Tottenham at home, Hull away, home to Aston Villa, and away matches against QPR and Liverpool.

If you have kept Gylffi Sigurdsson (£6.8) then you are in a good position to not have to use up a trade. Other players to look at include goalkeeper Lukasz Fabianski, who has five clean sheets this season and costs just £5.1, Ashley Williams (£5.2) or Neil Taylor (£4.7) in defense, midfielder Nathan Dyer (£5.6), and forward Wilfried Bony (£8.2) who has racked up five goals and an assist this season already.

Possible Clean Sheets

There are a few matches that could end with clean sheets including:

Burnley v Aston Villa – could be a 0-0, but I’m closer to predicting a Burnley win with the way these two teams have been playing lately.

Swansea City v Crystal Palace – Swansea have been playing better of late and could see them picking up a clean sheet.

Queens Park Rangers v Leicester City – another match that could be 0-0, but I give the advantage to QPR.

Sunderland v Chelsea – Chelsea are always strong in defense and picking them for a clean sheet every week is usually a safe bet.

Manchester United v Hull City – Manchester United came very close to keeping a clean sheet last weekend against the offensive threat of Arsenal and are looking stronger in defense recently.

Predicted goal scorers for game week 13:

Jonathan Walters – Liverpool’s defense is failing and they are especially weak against strong opponents and on set pieces, both of which are things that Jonathan Walters excels at. Better yet he is a bargain at just £5.2, although he is listed as a midfielder.

Wayne Rooney – has scored 6 goals in his last 3 matches against Hull City and has scored 4 goals with 2 assists in his 9 appearances this season. Although, he isn’t much of a bargain at £10.3

Wilfried Bony – At £8.2 he’s not much of a bargain, but he is starting to come into form recently. He has scored his five goals in his last six matches. With the Swans facing Crystal Palace there’s a good chance of him getting on the score sheet.

As always make sure that you check out the team sheets as early as possible and make sure your players will be starting. Be sure that you check out the injuries list and make sure that your players are not out injured.
