In week 15 I managed to score just 35 points as mentioned in my analysis from last week. In week 16 I was able to almost double that score with some changes to my lineup and pulled out 72 points for the week.
To do this I first had to drop Fabregas due to his accumulation of yellow cards. In addition I transferred out Saido Berahino and Juan Mata (who happened have a fantastic week) while replacing them with Andy Carroll and Christian Eriksen. Jason Shackell was dropped to the bench to make way for Andre Wisdom.
My week points were broken down like this:
Brad Guzan – 3
Andre Wisdom – 9
Ryan Bertrand – 2
Alan Hutton – 1
Gylffi Sigurdsson – 2
Christian Eriksen – 13
Dusan Tadic – 0
Eden Hazard – Captain – 28
Andy Carroll – 2
Wilfried Bony – 7
Diego Costa – Vice Captain – 5
There was certainly potential for more points if I had kept Juan Mata and transferred Dusan Tadic out instead since Mata wound up scoring 14 points. Dropping Berahino is looking like a good idea while holding on to Villa defensive players is something of a liability.
Guzan; Wisdom, Bertrand, Neil Tayler; Fabregas, Eriksen, Hazard, Downing; van Persie, Bony, Carroll
I’m captaining van Persie with vice-captain going to Carroll.
This weekend I’m counting on favorable matchups for Manchester United, West Ham United, and Chelsea to get me the bulk of my points. I already took a -4 penalty both last week and this week by making an additional transfer, but I’m hoping to pile on additional points to cover this.
I would like to get rid of Guzan as well, but he is still getting points even when Villa do not keep a clean sheet or win. Having Wisdom and Bertrand in defense are gambles, but I think Taylor will pick up some points with Swansea playing Hull City.
I think this is going to be another good week for me with some strong match-ups for my midfielders and forwards.
