Premier League Predictions: Todd’s Week 36 EPL Match Picks

Week 36 Premier League PredictionsWith week 36 arriving, the season is really starting to wind down. Three matches remain meaning there is plenty to play for despite the limited number of games left. It certainly does look gloomy at the bottom of the table, but hopes still remain.

This is probably the most crucial weekend of the season for those fighting the relegation battle. It has become a massive scrap that now includes seven teams. It seems unlikely that teams like Burnley and Queens Park Rangers will be able to pick up enough points to get clear, but in this sport, there are no guarantees.

Everton begin the weekend facing a resurgent Sunderland that look desperate to stay in the EPL now that it is truly on the line. Meanwhile, Everton continue to be a streaky team that impress one week followed by disappointment the next. A draw is my prediction here.

I’m predicting two more draws on Saturday with Leicester City v Southampton and Hull v Burnley looking to be the most likely matches to end with scoring draws. However, these are also matches that could just as easily end with wins for Leicester and Hull, who I would give as the favorites for a win.

Stoke have continued to struggle of late and are safely in the middle of the table. Tottenham are also safely midtable and are running out of time to get a Europa League place. Still, there is some time and a win on Saturday is crucial if they want to keep pressure on Liverpool.

Aston Villa now look like they will be safe from relegation along with West Ham. The Villans have been playing relatively well lately and I’m picking them for the win, but this could very easily be a draw.

I have a very hard time predicting a win for Manchester United at this point. They look slow, ponderous and without ideas. All Crystal Palace need to do is put everyone back on defense and wait for a mistake or set piece and they can grab all three points. Pardew can join the ranks of genius manager by following in the footsteps of Mourinho and Pulis by setting up with a 4-5-1 and pick up an easy three points at home.

15:00ET/20:00GMT Arsenal 2 v 0 Swansea City

Sunday’s matches feature Man City needing to keep up the pressure on Arsenal if they want to finish second. It will be interesting to see what kind of performance Queens Park Rangers will put in. Their current points tally of 27 means they have very little chance of avoiding relegation, but a win would give them a sliver of hope.

Chelsea v Liverpool is a very interesting match indeed. Will Chelsea put in a quality performance or will they roll over and let Liverpool have the win? This is a difficult one to predict. Having already clinched the Premier League title there is little to for the Blues to play for other than pride and a shot at getting the second most points tally in Premier League history.

Arsenal still have hopes of finishing second in the EPL and should be able to defeat Swansea without too much difficulty. Swansea look very likely to finish in the top ten, so it will be interesting to see how they finish the season, starting out with this match.

With the season coming to an end these matches have been getting ever more exciting, at least for some teams. For others, it has become a chore. Last weekend’s matches were quite interesting to watch and I expect more of the same in week 36.
