Premier League Scores: Result and Highlights From the EPL Fixture between Arsenal V Queens Park Rangers On Saturday, October 27, 2012.
Result: Arsenal 1 – 0 QPR
Location: Emirates Stadium – Arsenal
|Arsenal – 1||QPR – 0|
|Mikel Arteta (84’)|
After watching the majority of this match I would say that both teams were a little lucky. Arsenal was lucky to finally put one past Julio Cesar and QPR was lucky that Arsenal weren’t more clinical. Arsenal had 22 shots with 9 on goal while the Rangers had only 6 with 2 on goal. In addition to this Arsenal dominated possession with 66% compared to 34%. Julio Cesar ended the match with 8 saves.
QPR certainly had their chances and came very close twice in the last few minutes. They also ended up with 7 offsides calls, which show that they were certainly attempting to attack, but need to work on their timing.
Arsenal definitely capitalized on Stephane M’Bia’s 79th minute straight red card for kicking Thomas Vermaelen. They were finally able to score after some frantic scrambling in the box, when Mikel Arteta got his head on the ball in the 84th minute after barely getting back onsides. Replays showed that he may have been offside, but the goal still stands.
This leaves QPR at the bottom of the table with only 3 points and no wins yet. The win for Arsenal was a very important one that keeps them (for now) in the top four. According to Arsene Wenger, staying in the top four is all they need for their “trophy.”
