Pierre Emerick Aubameyang’s proposed move to Arsenal has been one of the main talking points of a rather exciting January Transfer Window and it seems his club are willing to let their star man part ways. Arsenal so far have had two bids rejected by Dortmund. However it seems Dortmund are not rejecting because they want Aubameyang to stay but because Arsenal have not yet bid a sufficient amount. Borussia Dortmund Sporting Director Michael Zorc has been quoted saying, “We have a clear position, Aubã wants to leave. Our demands must be met. The previous attempts from Arsenal didn’t meet (demands)”
The above quote clearly shows Dortmund have accepted defeat in this transfer saga and are willing to let last season’s Bundesliga top scorer leave the club for the right price, believed to be around £60 million. This is despite Aubameyang starting his current clubs latest fixture against Freiburg in a game where he received sets of boos from the home support in a 2-2 draw. It was a game in which he struggled to affect the game. It also seems that the club and fans are not the only ones to see Aubameyang leave the club but players are also of the same opinion. Former Chelsea winger Andre Schürrle has previously stated that the distraction over his colleague’s future is “annoying” and that while the team get what’s going on they “hope that calm soon returns”.
So the big question is will Arsenal pay up. It seems like it’s only a matter of £10 million so surely the club must make the decision to go in with a third and final bid and get their man before the deadline which is going to be soon upon us. Most Arsenal fans are already planning for life with the Gabon International, as some must have already bought shirts with the players name on them whilst others are already thinking about how good our forward line will be, myself included. This therefore makes it very important that Arsenal do not mess this deal up, as it will extremely anger fans who are already disappointed with how this season has gone. This Transfer will give us fans some sort of fresh hope that this club will one day be back challenging for the big trophies.
