The post you’ve all been waiting for! A guide to the best forwards for your 2019/20 Premier League fantasy football team.
This is the position you’re looking for goals and to select your captains from so it’s important to get it right. Here are five forwards you should strongly consider for your fantasy football team this season:
Harry Kane (11.0)
The Tottenham Hotspur striker will start the season fully fit as showed with his excellent finish against Internazionale recently in pre-season. Harry Kane is always among the favourites to win the Golden Boot and only really missed out last season due to injury.
Kane is better value than Manchester City’s Sergio Aguero (12.0) as the Argentine was on international duty at the Copa America over the summer, has competition from Gabriel Jesus to start every week, and is injury prone. As long as Kane is fully fit he’s guaranteed to start for Mauricio Pochettino’s side every week. Spurs kick off their season against Aston Villa so you can be sure the England star will kick start his season with a goal or two… or three!
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (11.0)
Down the road from Tottenham are their rivals Arsenal. The Gunners have a very exciting attack led by Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang. Partnered by Alexandre Lacazette to form one of the best attacks in the Premier League. The Gabon striker seems to score every week and is another better value option than Manchester City’s Aguero.
With supply coming from the likes of Nicolas Pepe, Dani Ceballos and Granit Xhaka, Aubameyang should be scoring 20+ goals again this season.
Roberto Firmino (9.5)
If you cannot afford Sadio Mane (11.5) or Mohamed Salah (12.5) then Roberto Firmino is the next best attacking option at Liverpool. Jurgen Klopp’s side will be in the top two top scoring teams come the end of the season so their striker is a good option.
Firmino will face competition from Divock Origi to start every week but when the Brazilian does start he sees a lot of opportunities. He’s a goalscorer and also has the likes of Salah and Mane to set goals up for too.
Teemu Pukki (6.5)
Among the cheaper strikers, Teemu Pukki could be a good option at 6.5. The Finnish striker was top scorer in the EFL Championship last season in helping Norwich City win the league. Daniel Farke’s side play attacking football and are going to outscore their opponents to win games.
Although they signed Josip Drmic over the summer, the Swiss international is used to sitting on the bench as per the past five seasons so I don’t see any threat for Pukki’s starting place. Liverpool away is a tough start but it’s followed up with a home game against Newcastle United. Hopefully he’ll be able to get on the scoresheet in the opening two games to ensure he’s a good selection.
Neal Maupay (6.0)
Brighton & Hove Albion appointed Graham Potter over the summer which means the Seagulls may have a dramatic change in football from what Chris Hughton produced. The former Swansea City manager likes to play an attractive, attacking style. They have brought in Neal Maupay off the back of an excellent season with Brentford in the EFL Championship.
Maupay knows where the back of the net is so you can be sure if he gets opportunities in the box that he is going to score. The Frenchman does have to displace Glenn Murray from the first team though but I think Potter will give him a chance from the start.
