3 best fantasy football captains for GW12

After an exciting round of Champions League and Europa League fixtures during the week, the English Premier League is back on our screens on Friday as Norwich City host Watford in a battle between the bottom two.

Chelsea kick off the action on Saturday as Frank Lampard’s side look to make it six consecutive EPL victories when they entertain Crystal Palace. And the day concludes with Leicester City looking to open up a nine point lead over Arsenal when they meet at the King Power Stadium.

Super Sunday sees a West Midlands derby between Wolverhampton Wanderers and Aston Villa before Liverpool look to open their lead at the top to nine points when they host defending champions Manchester City in the final game before the international break.

Here are my suggestions for your fantasy football captain for gameweek 12:

Jamie Vardy

Arsenal were in Portugal on Wednesday for Europa League action in which they blew a lead to end up drawing for the fourth consecutive game. The Gunners will do well to take the lead and even get a point when they travel to Leicester City on Saturday though.

The Foxes are in scintillating form with a 9-0 thrashing of Southampton and winning 2-0 at Crystal Palace heading into this game. Jamie Vardy has had Arsenal’s number over the years and their defence is about as bad as it has ever been. The Leicester striker will be supplied by the likes of James Maddison and Youri Tielemans from the middle of the park, for which Vardy should see plenty of opportunities as Arsenal only have Matteo Guendouzi and Lucas Torreira attempting to cut out those passes.

I am confident in a home win in this game, perhaps with a scoreline of 2-0 or 3-1. Jamie Vardy is going to get among the goals when he’s up against the likes of David Luiz and Sokratis. Wouldn’t be surprised if he gets a brace either.

Christian Pulisic

The American forward is in fine form with four goals in his past two Premier League games before Chelsea meet Crystal Palace at Stamford Bridge on Saturday. Although they were involved in a thrilling 4-4 draw at home to Ajax midweek, I don’t expect Frank Lampard to make many, if any, changes in attack.

That means Christian Pulisic will surely start against a Crystal Palace side who have lost their way in recent weeks. Whilst former Blues centre-back Gary Cahill has been playing well, it’s around the outside of their defence that I think Chelsea will see most of their success. That points to Pulisic and Willian down the wings.

I think we should be in for an exciting match between these two and lots of goals. Tammy Abraham and Mason Mount would be other good choices to make captain if you only have them, but I think Christian Pulisic will give you the best bang for your buck right now.

Mohamed Salah

Liverpool should be heavy favorites going into their game against Manchester City at Anfield on Sunday. Jurgen Klopp’s side have dropped just two points this season, whilst City’s defence is in a mess.

Pep Guardiola’s side will have had 24 hours less time to recover from their Champions League trip to Atalanta, whilst Liverpool were at home in their game on Tuesday night.

I think we’ll see Liverpool to score a few goals in this game and I think Mohamed Salah edges Sadio Mane as the best choice of Liverpool players to make your fantasy football captain.
