Manchester City did the most in the first half and had the better chances while Chelsea were content to defend and counter. Watching City in the first half it seemed inevitable that they would score. Petr Cech had to make some great saves including a fantastic one after a Nastasic free header.
The second half Chelsea looked like they were the team more likely to score and nearly did when Demba Ba was brought down in the box by Joe Hart. Hart was able to make up for it by saving Frank Lampard’s penalty shot. It wasn’t a well taken shot and Hart did very well to go the right way and get down quickly. The game really changed in the 63rd minute with Yaya Toure’s goal. The goal coming after some fine passing and moving around the Chelsea box.
Man City’s second goal in the 85th minute was a cracking shot by Carlos Tevez just at the top of the box and left Cech no chance. The win for City means that they keep the gap between themselves and Manchester United at 12 points. For Chelsea they are set further adrift of their chances of taking second as they are now 7 points behind City.
