This Preview for Aston Villa v Manchester City includes my Premier League Predictions and pre-match analysis for Match Week 28 of the EPL.
Aston Villa had shown some promise against Arsenal, at least for parts of the match. Prior to that they had managed to draw away to Everton then beat West Ham at home. This has been some of the problem with Villa this season, their inability to string together a good run of results.
This could be said of Manchester City this season as well. The amount of draws they have come away with has been the difference between them and their cross town rivals. For the Citizens to have a real chance at retaining the title they will need to start winning more consistently (as well as hope that Man United slip up).
Manchester City have players who will be a doubt, but could still play, Gareth Barry and Vincent Kompany. Maicon will also be out with a knee injury.
For Aston Villa they could have Ron Vlaar and Darren Bent return, though Bent’s return doesn’t necessarily mean he will get any playing time.
I could see Aston Villa really going for a win in this one, but I think their defense is at the point where City can take advantage and get goals. I’m predicting a Manchester City win by several goals. It is quite possible that Villa could get a goal or two and make it interesting. There is also the chance that Aston Villa could come away with a shock result. This will depend largely on which Manchester City team shows up for Saturday’s Premier League match. Will they end up lacking their attacking prowess again? Will they make more defensive mistakes that have cost them throughout the season? I’m still picking City for the win and a 3-0 for them is 9/1 odds at Bet365.
