Crystal Palace were the third and final Championship team to be promoted as the winners of the Championship playoffs. They finished the season in fifth place on 72 points, but got favorable results advancing through the playoffs.
The impressive thing to look at with Crystal Palace was their +26 goal difference last season. If they have any chance of staying up this 2013-14 Premier League season they will need to maintain this focus on goal difference. What will affect this is the loss of Wilfred Zaha. His speed on the wing and ability to create chances for their forwards will be missed.
They do have their leading goal scorer, Glenn Murray, returning. His 30 goals in the Championship last year was enough to give him the golden boot. The signing of Kevin Phillips, Dwight Gayle and Stephen Dobbie show that Ian Holloway is hoping to maintain a positive attacking team in the Premier League. However, he will need to be able to also strengthen the Palace defense to keep them in the EPL for another season.
While Ian Holloway has experience managing in the Premier League, his Blackpool team was not able to maintain their stay longer than one season. While he is hoping to be able to change that this time around my prediction is that they will not be able to do so and will be relegated.
