Premier League Highlights [Video]: Results for the EPL fixture between Swansea City and Everton from Saturday, September 22, 2012.
Where: Liberty Stadium – Swansea
Score: Swansea City 0 – 3 Everton
Everton were able to continue their splendid run of form and dominated this match from the start. Swansea seemed to be surprised and unprepared throughout the game.
Everton’s first goal was scored after Fellaini appeared to think he was playing volleyball to pass to Anichebe for an easy goal. Just before halftime (43rd minute) the Toffees were able to get themselves a legitimate goal with Kevin Mirallas getting his first goal for the club.
In the second half Nathan Dyer made it much more difficult for Swansea to get into the game when he was sent off for his second yellow card. While Dyer had only come on as a second half sub he was first booked for arguing with the official then only 3 minutes later, was given his second yellow for bringing down Leighton Baines just outside of the penalty box.
Swansea did manage some good efforts but Everton manager David Moyes had his defense to thank for keeping the Swans out. Phil Jagielka cleared one ball off the line and new recruit Ki-Sung Yeung came close, but put the ball barely inches wide of the goal.
In the end Everton’s strong midfield and defense was too much for Swansea. For some reason Swansea spent most of the match sitting back on defense which invited Everton forward, but without the reward of being able to break on the counterattack. Everton finished the match with 31 shots (11 on goal) compared to Swansea’s 18 (4 on goal). If Everton had done better with their chances it could’ve easily been an absolute rout.
