Premier League Preview for West Ham United v Fulham along with Predictions for every result in the EPL. Follow up each match with results and video highlights posted later in the week.
West Ham’s worrying season continued last week in a poor 0-3 loss at home to Chelsea. The match was very one sided and the Hammers never really looked like they were in it. They managed to have 45% of possession during which they had eight shots, but only one on target. Defensively they allowed 20 shots (8 on target) with seven blocked shots. West Ham has really struggled to score goals and needs a striker. The closest thing they had against Chelsea was Kevin Nolan. In their last five matches they have scored just two goals.
Fulham have been even worse than West Ham lately with four losses in a row. Against Swansea they did manage to score despite having only 37% possession with nine shots and three on target. Defensively they did fairly well considering that Swansea had 21 shots (5 on target) for their two goals. Fulham had nine blocked shots and it should be noted that one of the goals was an own goal.
My prediction is for a Fulham win, although this will be difficult for them. The two teams are level on points with 10 but West Ham are just above Fulham in 17th place thanks to a slightly better goal difference (-5 compared to -10). Neither team has done well at either end of the pitch this season and both have been wildly inconsistent. Picking a winner for this match is not a given. In last season’s two meetings the home team won both matches. This season West Ham is 1-1-4 at home while Fulham is 2-0-4 away. I do believe that the addition of Rene Muelensteen gives Fulham the edge for this match. Especially with West Ham having been so poor against Chelsea.
Betting Odds: West Ham win: 1.88-1.95; Draw: 3.50-3.65; Fulham: 4.16-4.54
Form: West Ham (W, L, D, D, L, L) Fulham (W, W, L, L, L, L)
