The week 18 Boxing Day Premier League Predictions have been posted, so go read up on my EPL picks for the week. Be sure to also check out the Premier League TV Schedule and 2013-14 Premier League Table.
Norwich City go into Boxing Day in 14th place and going unbeaten in four of their last five matches including three consecutive. They played Sunderland to a 0-0 draw over the weekend, but probably should have done more against a ten man team at the bottom of the table. Inconsistency continues to be a problem despite the recent return of results. Their struggles have largely come from a lack of scoring with only 15 goals this season and only three in their last three matches. This is something of an anomaly considering that they went out and bought several attacking players. Gary Hooper and Leroy Fer do lead the team in goals with four and three respectively, but their other big signing, Ricky van Wolfswinkel, has struggled to settle in and has just one goal and one assist.
Defensively Norwich has also had problems with 29 goals given up so far, but have managed to get six clean sheets, including three in their last five matches. This does bode well for them if they can keep it up.
Fulham’s struggles this season have been at both ends of the pitch as well with a -17 goal difference from scoring 17 and allowing 34. While the hiring of Rene Meulensteen has given the team a boost, they have been unfortunate with their recent fixture list having just lost 4-1 at Everton and 4-2 to Manchester City.
This is a team that has just three clean sheets this season and has been headed towards relegation. They are currently in 19th place with just 13 points (10 more than Sunderland) and their recent run of form has seen them win just once in their last nine Premier League matches.
I’m predicting a Fulham win for this Boxing Day fixture. In their last eight matches against Norwich in all competitions they have gone unbeaten while also keeping six clean sheets. I do believe there will be goals in this one and that this will be a chance for Fulham to finally prove that they are a better team than they have shown thus far.
