In last Saturday’s match against Tottenham, they had the chance to take an early lead, but were unable to convert their penalty. This eventually led to the Spurs gaining in confidence and going on to win 2-0.
They were able to set up fairly well defensively considering that they had just 32% possession and allowing just 10 shots, but it was not enough. Even more than this, they need to do better offensively if they want to stay up. Despite their low possession they were still able to get off 14 shot, however, just two of those were on goal. They even had 71% of these inside the box.
Sunday’s 3-5 loss to Liverpool had everything that a neutral loves about watching the Premier League, but not what Stoke supporters or players want. While they were able to peg Liverpool back to 2-2 right on halftime, they then went on to allow three more goals in the second half.
Stoke should have some positives to take away from the match, particularly that they kept 51% possession against a top four side, but giving up 13 shots and nine on target is something they need to work on.
In their last eight away matches in the Premier League Stoke City has not been able to win while also giving up at least three goals in five out of six of these.
I’ll be honest, this is a difficult one to predict. I am still going to pick a draw, but this could very easily go either way. Crystal Palace has been strong defensively, but struggled to score, while Stoke has started to score more lately, but been weak defensively.
In head to head matchups Stoke has the edge with four wins and a draw while Crystal Palace has one in, way back in 2008.
I feel that neither team really has much of an advantage since Crystal Palace is the home side while Stoke City is the team able to score goals this season.
Betting Odds: Palace win: 2.50; Draw: 3.22-3.25; Stoke win: 3.01-3.20
Form: Palace (L, L, W, L, D, L) Stoke (D, W, L, L, D, L)
