Newcastle’s up and down season continued over the weekend with their 3-0 loss to Chelsea making it back to back 3-0 losses. It also was their sixth match in their last seven in the Premier League in which they were held scoreless. Newcastle remain without several key players with Loic Remy serving out the last of his three match ban while Yoan Gouffran and Papiss Demba Cisse are listed as questionable.
While the Spurs were largely outplayed by Everton in their home 1-0 win over the weekend they benefitted from some quick thinking and Everton’s defensive lapse to get the win.
Tottenham are currently on an unbeaten run in their previous six away Premier League matches. However, the last time that they kept a road clean sheet was the 0-0 draw at Everton back in early November.
My pick for this match is a Tottenham Hotspur win. Newcastle has not been playing well and especially struggling to score. They could reverse their recent fortunes and come out with a win, especially since they have played better when they are the underdog and are able to set up a counter attack approach.
Betting Odds (Ladbrokes):
Newcastle win: 3.00; Draw: 3.40; Spurs win: 2.30
Form: Newcastle (L, L, W, D, L, L) Tottenham (W, W, W, L, D, W)
Prediction: Newcastle United 1 – 2 Tottenham Hotspur
