This weekend Liverpool make the trip up to Newcastle United in what will be another difficult test for both teams. Expectations have been exceedingly high this season for Liverpool while Newcastle have been treading water meaning that this has become something of a crucial match for both clubs.
Both teams look likely to be without strikers with Liverpool still missing Daniel Sturridge and Newcastle without Papiss Demba Cisse. They do have cover for these players, it’s just a matter of how well they are able to replace their starters.
Newcastle enters Saturday on the back of three consecutive wins, including their midweek 2-0 win over Manchester City in the Capital One Cup.
Liverpool, meanwhile, have been struggling for form. In their last three matches they have gone 1-1-1 with a Champions League 3-0 loss to Real Madrid followed by a Premier League 0-0 draw at home to Hull and a 2-1 home win over Swansea in the Capital One Cup.
Betting Odds via Bovada:
Newcastle United win: 14/5; 3.80
Draw: 13/5; 3.60
Liverpool win: 20/21; 1.95
Pick: My prediction is a scoring draw. Newcastle has shown improvement over the last few matches and a newfound impetus to do well. Both teams come into Saturday’s match with momentum following midweek wins which does lend itself to the possibility of a draw.
