Premier League Scores: Result and Highlights From the EPL Fixture between Queens Park Rangers V Everton On Sunday, October 21, 2012.
Result: QPR 1 – 1 Everton
Location: Loftus Road – Queens Park Rangers
|QPR – 1||Everton – 1|
|David Hoilett (2’)||Julio Cesar (OG 33’)|
Unfortunately for me, I managed to miss QPR’s opening goal in the 2nd minute while I was getting brunch ready. Watching the replay, the goal was a fantastic one as he dribbled through most of the pitch before firing from the top of the box. The ball took a slight deflection to go in, but the effort was deserving of a goal.
Everton’s goal came from a free kick with Sylvain Distin getting a free header that went off the post then ricocheted off of Julio Cesar into the back of the net. Unlucky break for Distin, since he would’ve loved to get the credit for his first goal in 2 years and did an excellent job to work himself into position.
Steven Pienaar’s second yellow card in the 61st minute was a silly one that put Everton down to 10 men for the last 30 minutes. When you have a yellow card, you have got to be more careful. Queens Park Rangers were just not able to capitalize on this despite getting several chances to go ahead.
Everton had their own chances, particularly from set pieces as QPR continued to give away free kicks to Everton in dangerous positions. While QPR may have been able to get a draw their lack of defending and the ability to mark players needs to be addressed before they will be able to get a win. Added to this would have to be their ability to finish and be clinical in front of goal.
I did pick Everton to win, and they may have if Pienaar had not gotten the red card, but I do think that a draw was going to be the outcome of this match from the start. Neither team really did enough to get a win.
